Hey folks,
I sure hope this doesn't replace me writing emails, but I must say it does seem to go a bit faster. Todd and I have been teaching now for about a month and a half, and it's really been interesting, as well as a lot of work. It's really nice to both be teachers, because we understand perfectly the amount of work that it takes, and we don't get jealous or upset about being left out. It also helps that we are modest in our social life expectations, for if we had all these big parties and nights out that we wanted to do, we'd be miserable because much of our time does go to teaching. I remember when Todd was teaching in Bangkok and I didn't really have anything to do, I really wanted him to spend time with me, and it was hard for him because he really needed to work quite a bit. Now we're both busy, and we appreciate just that we get to spend time together prepping for teaching!
My students are very interesting, mostly Myanmar students, with quite good English considering what I was expecting. Many of their challenges are ones that I've seen native English speakers have. Right now I'm reading Tales of Despereaux to them, and they all love it. They are quite excited at the moment as Pea has been taken to the dungeon, and what will become of her? Leave it to Despereaux! They're probably all anticipating tomorrow's finale. What should I read next? Any suggestions?
Much love to everyone, and I hope all of you are well.
love, Meghan
