Some photos at last!

Hello again,

I know it's been a while, but quite frankly it's hard to publish a blog in Burma, with all the back door sites I have to use now. Publishing pictures is impossible, so I waited until I was here. But now I realize, I haven't really been taking any pictures! So here are some from my classroom. We did a big project where the students had to create their own culture, including family and power structure, religion, economy, etc., and then create artifacts for a museum display, and also a reader's theatre presentation. It was a lot of hard work, but I'm pretty sure my kids are now pretty savvy about all the different parts of a culture, and it was a great for creativity. I have videos of them also, but I have a feeling no one will be interested in that except me and my class.

Last week was our school Christmas party, at the Dusit Inya Lake Hotel. Todd and I hung out with my assistant Mon Mon and her boyfriend Kyaw Kyaw. It was good to spend time with some Myanmar friends, as sometimes we can feel a bit isolated with foreigners, not really mingling too much with Myanmar people. She's a really nice person, and we get along very well, which is fortunate because that isn't always the case with teachers and their assistants. Check her out in the gingerbread shophouse (real gingerbread!).

Now we are in Thailand for our winter break. Todd is in retreat, and I plan to also go into retreat for a few days. So hopefully I will update the blog in another week or so!

love, Meghan
