Some of you may have wondered from time to time if we ever go to the beach on this beautiful tropical island that we stay at in Thailand. Certainly we don't go very often, but occasionally it makes an appearance. Yesterday we had a rare occasion of many of our friends from the wat being free for a trip to Had Rin beach. It's the location of Koh Pahngan's infamous Full Moon parties, but at 7am in the morning it's an empty, peaceful kind of place.
Great for swimming, it's true appeal lies in the occasional appearance of waves just the right height for body surfing. We were hopeful as we got lathered up in sunscreen, particularly Todd, Mike and Andrew (see photo), and marked out our real estate on the beach with mats for the lounging times. That said, as you can see from the picture with the water, the waves were a bit to tranquil for major surfing, so we just moved into the bungalow right by the water for some ping pong, breakfast, and a yoga session. The ping pong was the big hit, with lots of action and plenty of spectators (see photo). It was a lovely morning, not just because it's a beautiful beach, but because of the good times with good friends. For those who would like to know who these people are, they are Mike, Andrew, Helge, Maud, and Sara. I don't appear in any photos because, you guessed it, I'm the photographer.
We hope this warms all of you who are chilly up there in North America!
love, Meghan
